IUCN / CEC Newsletter January/February 2011 Issue 42

Dear CEC members,

CEC started the New Year in New Zealand, with Commission participation in the CEESP Sharing Power conference and subsequent workshops, and in New York at the UN Forum on Forests. The articles by CEC members that launched the 2011 International Year of Forests in IUCN’s arborvitae magazine are presented here, as are 24 interviews on Amazonian forests.

This newsletter showcases the wide variety of activities carried out by CEC members around the world. Enjoy stories on communicating conservation through photography, video, and soap operas. The last item in this newsletter, the CEC Annual Report, wraps up the business of 2010. Meanwhile, the Commission is already developing a new strategic plan to present at the World Conservation Congress in 2012. Best wishes for a greener New Year – and thank you for continuing to send your news to CEC throughout 2011.

With best regards,
Keith Wheeler, CEC Chair
KEITH WHEELER, CEC CHAIR
