July 26 in Guadalajara, CEC Chair Keith Wheeler and Ms. Martha Ruth del Toro Gaytán signed an MoU between CEC and the Government of Jalisco to coordinate biodiversity action. David Without Borders (David Sans Frontieres) is a quest by two young men to discover biodiversity efforts in 14 countries. From CEC member David Ainsworth of the Convention on Biological Diversity, a project supporter. » ARKive is on the hunt for the planet's most wanted -- tracking down photographs for over 17,000 of the world's most endangered species. ARKive is an initiative of Wildscreen, where CEC Steering Committee member Harriet Nimmo is Chief Executive. » Hundreds of biodiversity messages by people from all over the world will be gathered in a large photo mosaic in the project “Biodiversity needs all of us” launched by Countdown 2010. The mosaic will be presented in September at a world conference. Countdown 2010 is an IUCN initiative. » CEC member Samik Gupta focused his 24th wildlife film on the Russell's viper. Though it is blamed for a third of snakebite cases in India each year, the viper helps to protect more than 1 metric tonnes of crops annually by eating rats in the fields. » More than 800 students in grades 5-8 took part in a unique national contest to photograph our changing world. The contest was organized by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies. The successful candidate will develop a series of continuous professional development training courses catering to the institutional membership of EAZA. » This three-day training course in October is run by CEC member Diana Pound.
