Dear CEC members,
Members of the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (CEC) are heading to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, also referred to as ‘Rio+20’. The event takes place from 20-22 June 2012.
IUCN will participate in the meeting with a delegation of 41 persons headed by Julia Marton-Lefèvre, Director General of IUCN. The various papers (position papers and policy briefs) prepared by IUCN as a contribution to the Rio+20 process are available here on the IUCN website on Rio+20. IUCN CEC will be represented by Keith Wheeler, CEC Chair, and attended by more than 20 CEC members.
Will you be in Rio?
What is our vision?
"IUCN envisions sustainable development as a path that leads to a just and prosperous world which values and conserves nature by using its resources sustainably through effective and equitable governance. This is the only foundation on which a truly green economy can be built. This is where the three pillars of sustainable development defined in Rio 1992 come together..."
With best regards,
Keith Wheeler, CEC Chair
