Biodiversidad Marina y Tr=C3=A1fico = en el=20 = Mediterr=C3=A1neo

UICN-Med ha=20 organizado un taller de trabajo en = Estambul=20 (Turqu=C3=ADa) del 22 al 24 de septiembre = de 2007 para=20 analizar el impacto de las actividades del = tr=C3=A1fico=20 mar=C3=ADtimo sobre la biodiversidad en el = Mediterr=C3=A1neo. M=C3=A1s de 30 = participantes, incluyendo=20 t=C3=A9cnicos especialistas, = investigadores y=20 organizaciones mediterr=C3=A1neas = colaboradoras junto a=20 representantes de la industria = mar=C3=ADtima,=20 discutieron las recomendaciones referentes = a:=20

1. las prioridades para la = conservaci=C3=B3n de la=20 biodiversidad en el mediterr=C3=A1neo, en = lo que se=20 refiere a los riesgos derivados del = tr=C3=A1fico=20 mar=C3=ADtimo
2. medidas para fomentar = el=20 cumplimiento y aplicaci=C3=B3n de las = medidas=20 protectoras existentes aplicables a la = regi=C3=B3n=20 mediterr=C3=A1nea y de los criterios = adoptados en el=20 marco legal de la Convenci=C3=B3n de = Barcelona; y
3.=20 otras medidas protectoras (por ejemplo, = medidas=20 legales internacionales) que podr=C3=ADan = resultar=20 =C3=BAtiles para proteger las prioridades = de=20 conservaci=C3=B3n identificadas

Este taller de trabajo es una = iniciativa clave=20 enmarcada seg=C3=BAn las recomendaciones = resultantes=20 del Congreso de UICN celebrado en Bangkok = en el=20 2004, gracias al apoyo financiero del = Gobierno=20 Italiano a UICN-Med para llevar a cabo el = proyecto=20 "Riesgos del Tr=C3=A1fico Mar=C3=ADtimo = para la=20 Biodiversidad del Mar Mediterr=C3=A1neo", = especialmente=20 enfocado a la protecci=C3=B3n de la = biodiversidad en=20 =C3=A1reas fuera de la jurisdicci=C3=B3n = nacional.
